Prerequisites:

Before you begin, ensure the following:

  • The firmware you have is MT6737_C185B123_6.0 and compatible with your device.
  • Your device has at least 70% battery charge.
  • A USB cable is available to connect your device to the computer.
  • You have a Windows PC with administrative access.

1. Downloads:

  • MediaTek Driver Auto Installer: Install MediaTek USB drivers on your computer.
  • SP Flash Tool: Download and extract the latest SP Flash Tool.
  • Huawei Y5 2017 Firmware: Ensure you have the correct firmware version MT6737_C185B123_6.0. Extract the firmware ZIP file on your computer.

2. Install MediaTek Drivers:

  1. Download the MediaTek Driver Auto Installer.
  2. Run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers.
  3. Restart your computer after installation.
  4. Skip this step if MediaTek drivers are already installed.

3. Prepare SP Flash Tool:

  1. Extract the downloaded SP Flash Tool ZIP file to a folder on your computer.
  2. Open the extracted folder and locate flash_tool.exe.
  3. Right-click flash_tool.exe and select Run as administrator to launch the tool.

4. Load the Scatter File:

  1. In SP Flash Tool, click the Scatter-Loading button.
  2. Navigate to the extracted Huawei Y5 2017 firmware folder.
  3. Select the MT6737_Android_scatter.txt file and click Open.
  4. The firmware files will load into SP Flash Tool automatically.

5. Configure Flash Tool Settings:

  1. Untick the Preloader option (important to avoid bricking the device).
  2. Ensure only the necessary partitions (like system, boot, recovery) are selected for flashing.

6. Begin the Flashing Process:

  1. Click the Download button in SP Flash Tool.
  2. Power off your Huawei Y5 2017 and connect it to the computer using a USB cable.
  3. While connecting, press and hold the Volume Down or Volume Up button to enable SP Flash Tool to detect the device.

7. Flashing and Completion:

  1. Once the device is detected, the flashing process will start automatically.
  2. Wait patiently until the process completes. A green checkmark or ring will appear in SP Flash Tool, indicating success.

8. Final Steps:

  1. Close SP Flash Tool and disconnect the device from the computer.
  2. Reboot the Huawei Y5 2017. The first boot may take longer than usual, so wait patiently.
  3. Complete the on-screen setup once the device starts.
Important Notes:
  1. Backup Your Data: Flashing firmware will erase all data. Ensure you back up your important files beforehand.
  2. Correct Firmware: Double-check that the firmware is specifically for Huawei Y5 2017 MYA-L22 and matches the build version C185B123 6.0.
  3. Stable Connection: Use a high-quality USB cable and avoid interruptions during the process.
  4. Preloader Warning: Flashing the preloader.bin file unnecessarily can brick the device. Untick it unless explicitly required.
  5. Issue Resolution: If the flashing fails or the device isn’t detected, reinstall the drivers and try again.
Note:

These steps are standard for flashing MediaTek-powered Huawei devices. Variations may occur depending on firmware versions, device models, or SP Flash Tool updates. Always verify the firmware compatibility and consult official Huawei resources or documentation for precise and up-to-date instructions.
